    Hi

Looking to buy a present for someone inline with the above.

    Main uses would be
    Track steps/walks
Track swimming and thus fully waterproof
Spotify app and be able to upload over wifi
    Digital wallet (not essential)

I have done a small bit of research.
The Fitbit Ionic fits 3 out of 4 (except spotify)
    Galaxy watch (not fully waterproof?)

Bluetooth ear pods/buds may need to be considered but I sometimes feel the need to charge these is a negative.

    Thanks

I don't think it has the spotify app, just Deezer.
Person I am buying for has a spotify account.

According to info on amazon it is water resistant only upto 1.5m. That doesn't sound good.

Price wise I am willing to pay around the €200 mark.

It does have Spotify. I'm using it here now.

There was an update in March for it.

You download Spotify on to the watch and you then transfer your playlists/songs using a PC or phone.

Connect your Bluetooth headphones to the watch and off you fo.

It is £217 now on Amazon. Hopefully it will go back down to £169 again.

That was a steal at that price.

It's only being £169 once on Amazon that's why I jumped on it. Even at £199 like it was yesterday it's a bargain.

wifi only for downloading the content onto the watch

could use phone hotspot as the wifi.

bluetooth is the only option for listening with these watches

Says its waterproof up to 5ATM here: https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/what-is-5atm/

so up 50M for 10 mins. Swimming should be fine!

    But it's €260 everywhere

Galaxy Active here for as cheap as 175 euro
    https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/product/galaxy%20active?subcats=Y&status=A&pshort=Y&pfull=Y&pname=Y&pkeywords=Y&search_performed=Y&q=galaxy%20active

no customs issues, 10 days delivery approx

but I'd go for the the full Galaxy watch 46mm for 220 for better battery life and cooler looks. also 5ATM waterproof

swimming is definitely fine with these watches. they have swim tracking built in!

How do you find the display on it. It was top of my list until I realized it was only 240x240. That's not 'bad' but nowhere near as sharp as many competitors. Is the touchscreen responsive? Menus easy to navigate?

Screen is fine but a little dull out of the box. Upped the brightness a little and it's perfectly fine now.

Navigation is ok. The more I use it the more familiar I'm getting with it.

Is the vivoactive touchscreen? I would have thought buttons were the better option?

Fantastic looking watch. Terrible battery life though compared to the competition.

EDIT: Actually 'terrible' might be a bit much. I've read reviews stating between 1 and 2 days, which is ok... not great for travel but with low power mode you can extend that without needing a charge.

the bezel navigation on the full Galaxy watch in combination with the touchscreen is the best implementation really

    Wireless.

the watch needs to be connected to a wifi network to download the offline content to spotify.

Beginning to think that the Fitbit Ionic may be a good fit.

    It has AIB pay.
It has gps and several sport modes including run, bike, swim.
    It is waterproof to 50m.
It can store and play 300 songs offline.

It doesn't have a spotify app but I believe the songs can be transferred through a laptop using a spotify download.

At £175 it is the best value.

I would imagine spotify will come to all these watches. The garmin vivoactive 3 has gone back to £230.

    Any negatives for the Ionic?
The aib pay is very handy. Do you enter a passcode in case the watch gets lost?

The Ionic looks better as a daily watch. The garmin looks like a sports watch.
