Former side access to repair

We're relatively new to a 1950s semi-detached house. Outside the back door is a small corridor leading to a rear toilet, disused. We store the washing machine out there and the corrugated roof and wooden frame means it a chilly area most of the year. It used to be the side entrance from the front before the garage was converted, sealing it off. A newer downstairs bathroom make reopening that access quite complicated.

Is there a name for this area and what the best option for it - knock it down? Replace the roof and try seal it? Any experiences or advice appreciated.

Its very hard to understand what you are describing have you any photos?

The only thing I could hazard a guess is this is an external area that has been roofed... like if you put a roof over your side passage.
What are you trying to achieve? is water getting in? do you want to insulate to make it less chilly?
