Some UK channels scrambled

    Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a new Samsung TV and have hooked up the satelite directly to the TV. What I can't figure is why some of the free channels are showing up as needing a Ci module. I don't mean the ones that usually cost money either, e.g. Some instances of channel 4 are scrambled, some aren't. Same with film 4. The main station is scrambled but the +1 isn't. Is my Samsung broadcasting my location or something through its tuner? I never had this issue with the Hisense. Thanks, Griff

Some versions of UK channels targeted at Ireland are encrypted.
Just make sure your TV is scanning all available frequencies and you will pick up all UK-targeted channels no problem. You can then delete the unwanted encrypted versions.

As posted above, some of the FTA channels have a scrambled tag and so aren't found during a FTA scan. When scanning include encrypted TV channels.

Great thanks for the help. Does anybody know a way to autosort the channels, even using pc software? For tvs that can do so much, the basic tuner functions of Samsung seem seriously limited.

There's ChanSort which you could have a look at. There are probably others too but that one comes to mind.

Thanks. I ended up just reseting the tv and starting with a UK postcode. It set everything up perfectly with the freesat epg then

Ogsjw, if you have nothing to add to the conversation it’s best not to post at all
