Musselburgh 1:45 - kicking myself I missed the 20/1, but I did get 16/1 on Kodimoor in this one. This one has been in my tracker and I've been eagerly anticipating a return under a change of stable from a useless one, to a half decent operation. Think all the stars align for this one in terms of rating, distance and ground, and for me this is one of the rare times in a year when I am going to have a fairly big bet.

So Ruby is down for 3 rides today (according to the paper I'm looking at):

    5.30 Bapaume
    6.05 My Sister Sarah
    6.40 Chacun Pour Soi

First and third both Ricci horses.

So does anyone know how it works with replacement jockeys?

Townend already has rides in those 3 races, so will he offered the choice of moving off his horses onto Ruby's, or will he be told to stick with what he's on and we'll get someone else on Ruby's (albeit that PT will get first choice in future)?

From a betting perspective it would be interesting if he was offered the choice, but decided he'd prefer his chances on his original allocated horse.

Sporting Life are still showing Ruby down as jockey (8.30am) so not sure when the decision has to be made public.

    3.40 - John Ess - Up Conor O'Dwyer
    4.15 - Stowaway Forever - Up the Dempsey's

Im giving up tipping loosers, but doesnt Bacardy's just win this terrible race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭NaiveMelodies

Misty Millie in the first is fine value at 40s.
A tough ride but I believe it's the first time she'll have blinkers on over hurdles which should aid her cause. Picks of her form have her well ahead of her mark.
    Good each way bet.

Bacardy's looks a good thing to me.

On a related note, I don't actually like Bacardi, I think its vile.

Chacun pour soi in the 6.40 my bet of the day won't get a chance later so also doing 1-2-3 and 1-3-2 tricasts both at 16s on pp

Actually think Bacardys is a bet today myself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,588 ✭✭✭2ndcoming

I've gone for Sil Ver Klass e/w in the first, bottom of the handicap with a 5lb claimer, very Tony Martin.

Also singles on Snugsborough Hall (was unlucky last day and getting tons of weight from rivals) and the Skelton's Aux Ptits Soins in the poor renewal of the stayers. Can't recall Bapaume ever winning a race and Bacardys has let me down too many times before.

    Good luck to all.

For all you Bacardy lovers I had a sniff around the race to see if I could find one to beat it.

I initially thought the Skeltons were crazy but in all fairness Au Petit Soins is a Cheltenham festival winner who has won at Aintree and has shown bits of form this year. It's the 30 lengths behind world hurdle run that I am struggling with. He probably is not a grade 1 horse. He should be beating Bacardy's though.

Bapaume was either pulled to let Faugheen place or he didn't actually get the 3 miles at Cheltenham, the form at Gowran with Killutagh Vic and and Pres Percy looks pooey enough now. I smell a PIG.

At the prices I couldn't stop anyone backing Dortmund Park at around 25 / 1. He is trained by a master, Davy Russell is getting up to ride him, so he is in good hands. He actually won a Grade 1 here at the festival last year. He wouldn't be taking his chance if they thought he didn't have one, I respect he has been nothing special for a while, but he is quite lightly raced and as I said Flash Gordon saved everyone of us …..

If Not Many Left wins after being placed in the Pertemps it will only highlight to me what a poor race it is. He would need to improve a stone. Although in saying that Supasundae used to be a handicapper so what would I know anyways.

He was the first horse I landed on, but I kept coming back to Bacardys. Bits and pieces of form but him way ahead of this lot if he's on a going day. At current prices I couldn't say no..

I might have to have a saver on this lad though.

Savage run. Inconvenienced a couple of times which perhaps cost her the win.

I fancy Bapaume 6/1 AP. for the stayers. Still quite a young horse has been placed behind some very good horses. Looked the real deal in the Novice season. Seems to have gone to ****e since but a G1 in France last summer coupled with the impressive enough run in Cheltenham is enough for a bit of interest. Only bet if the day. Jaysus roll on tomorrow no work, beer and racing.

It's great for the festival to see UK trainers get a winner. Apart from a few token entries in The Adare hurdle yesterday there has not been enough interest. When you see the prize money on offer they are crazy to be not sending more over. They're so one-minded.

Serious support throughout the day for that Rich Ricci horse in the 6:40.

They must think highly of it if they're piling into it against the two market leaders
