I seem to notice a pattern

Lots of girls I went to school with for example from families that were known for being a bit rough around the edges, the girls only desire was to leave school.. Have babies and claim social welfare or whatever. I thought this was just mad.. Now that I'm in a public sector working environment i see its not only my imagination.

Women my age with 3/4 children off different dads. Only income is one parent family payment or whatever. Constantly living on the breadline.. Paying €20 a week to the council for the rest of your life..expecting everything handed to you.

Its scary. Why do they feel they dont have to earn their money and suck it up like the rest of us?

What attracts these people to this life? It angers me but I know it shouldnt.. When these people who cant even string a sentence together and barely finished school are having children left right and centre... To create more of the exact type of human.

How can they think they know anything about raising a child?

Children having children... Stupid children having children.

Real grown up life is tough though. Do well in school, go to college, save deposit for house, work at career, work at relationship, get married, have kids etc.
That’s the benchmark you’re comparing to I assume.

For someone who’s wants are a house, kids, and time to spend with their kids, family and friends, and not have to work a whole pile you can’t beat it.

Possibly because they have seen their family or friends do it and see the custy life. Free house, children's allowance, free health care, back to school allowance, free child products etc etc etc.
Plenty around me here don't work yet are out most weekends.

Each to their own, I wouldn't find value in my life living like that.

    *possibly sensitive content*

This post was triggered by a girl younger than me by about 2 years whom I knew as a peer in secondary school. She came from a fairly rough family that lived on my childminders street. Think noisy, messy, ten kids..walking around all day outside in pjs etc.

This girl I always felt sorry for, as I did her sisters.

I recently looked her up on facebook and noticed she had given birth to a baby, a stillborn. Awful right?

However she had uploaded numerous photos of the actual dead baby. Selfies with it and everything. An actual front facing selfie of her.. Her mum and her dead baby.

I mean what the absolute hell? Uploading photos of your dead baby on facebook in clear view? The body was all purple and black and the eyes bulging out. Not suitable at all for viewing. How can someone who thinks thats anywhere near normal or okay even try raise a human?

This girl was obviously distraught and constantly putting up statuses and photos about how she was gonna get pregnant straight away again as her only desire was to be a mum and a 'good one'

Its just scary and made me feel very grateful for what kind of life/people I have in my life

Because anyone/couple can have a child and raise it.

There is no one one size fits all approach to parenting every parent is different so each parent will raise their child differently.

I would suggest you focus on yourself and improving your own life if you feel like you need to improve it because, you are just wasting time and energy on something that is not going to be changing anytime soon.

I agree. Didn't all those bankers and politicians who bankrupted the state have kids? Scumbags. Their kids will grow up the same, they'll be given handy jobs, give themselves huge bonusues, steal from everyone else to fund their lifestyle. Sickening.

I was waiting for the 'focus on your own life'

I am. All I think about most of the time is my own life. Its natural to observe, be curious and slightly judge others.

This is after hours after all where this kind of thing is normal (random topics of conversation)

I didn't mention improving my own life. Im not perfect and im sure theres areas I could improve.. But thats not the point because this thread is not about me.

They've probably been tild this all their lives and had it drilled into them that it's a viable career option. I have a set of cousins all 4 of them work in the public service. Why? Because their Dad drilled it into them from a very early age that it was a safe, well paying job.

One of our gang growing up was a genius at Maths and Science, but was told all along that he would be taking over the family business (2 supermarkets, pub, post office and a small haulage business) along with his brother and sister and that the Maths was no use to him. This was drilled into him since he was a small kid. Was effectively forced into a Business degree in college and has regretted it 25 years later.

The family knows no better, knows that there is an excellent social welfare safety net here and in many cases encourage their kids to get into it, then there's peer observance as well as some other reasons.
