    Hi There,
I saw a whole shelf a mastics in a recent visit to B&Q, and it just reminded me of shampoo, male shampoo, female shampoo, dog shampoo, cat shampoo, actually Lidl is doing Dog beer now.....It makes me want to go out and kill a marketer :D ( I know they are just doing their job, and it's people fault for being stupid)

But is there a bit of the same thing going on with mastics...gutter mastic...roof mastic, hold up your pants mastic...(see shelf below)
Can you point to a good boards thread explaining all the different mastics(I've tried to find one), I get that certain materials will need different mastics, stone to wood, stone to metal..etc. Is there a good site comparing the different brands for example, that would be a help

Here's some grey stuff, do you know what mastic this gum is in the expansion joint of the sand/cement render here???

and here's another location , aluminium door held onto the same render
Looks like the pink stuff ;p BOTH ARE SOUTH FACING, PROBABLY NOT REPLACED IN 20 SOMETHING YEARS

on a different house, the vent fell out, what would you stick it back in with, aluminum onto brick.

Thanks for any pointers....Someone must have cracked the code on this sticky stuff?

I'm sure some lad is going to come along and say, Tec 7 the lot of em :)

Well the vent into a filled cavity joint seems a bit odd.

THe cavity was filled with that bird food only a couple of years ago...it still has a clear span to the internal vent.

Do you know anything silicones vs polyurethane? :) or any good tips on sealant

Google them. The manuacturers websites have lots of info. I came across at least one good site a while back but don’t have link handy. The info is out there.
