I was driving on the R420 heading south of Tullamore and it was 100km for a good few kilometers. A smashing road and beats the N80 hands down.

Some of the former Intercity roads are now R roads at 100km also like the old N7 at Borris in Ossory.

What other high quality R roads at 100km are out there ?

R569 between Kilgarvan and the N22 is 100km/h. The Healy-Rae expressway if you will.

The R585, which is part of the Cork-Bantry route was 100km/h but was in shocking condition. It has since been downgraded to 80km/h.

R586 is still 100km/h after the N71 turns off to the south.

You will find links to the byelaws for each county at the link below. The regional road sections with 100km/hr will be in there somewhere (well at least they should be if the speed limit has been applied properly).
