Trapped Nerve?

    Hi.

This seems to be the most suitable place to post this but I hope my complaint won’t turn out to be a long-term illness!!

    I’m a male in my early 50s.
I developed a sharp pain in my right arm almost four weeks ago and my G.P’s diagnosis was that it was probably caused by a trapped nerve in my neck or upper back. I was referred for an M.R.I. scan and I am still awaiting that. I know it isn’t a muscular pain because I’ve had muscular pain before, and if it was muscular pain, it would have cleared up before now.
The pain goes across from my spine to the right arm. I get some relief when I stoop my head forward as far as it can go and keep it in that position. I also get some relief when I hold my right arm across my chest to the left shoulder and keep it there. I find it difficult to sleep at night. I have to lie on my left side at a certain angle and keep myself in that position with pillows at my back and my right arm slightly behind me with my hand resting towards my right buttock. If I move from that position the pain flares up again. Otherwise, I have the full range of movement in my arm.

I wonder whether anybody in Boards.ie land ever had anything like this and if so, how long did they have it for, how they dealt with it and was the outcome to their liking.

    Thanks in Advance.

Chiropractor. Get it sorted rather than live with the pain.

Did the gp ask about unusual usage of your back or arm? Perhaps gp could refer a physio too. Paying private if you can is the best way to get an mri outside having insurance.
Sounds awful for your quality of life..

I have some magic beans that you might be interested in, a better investment than any chiropractor.

I used to suffer badly and quite regularly from lower back pain and trapped nerves. The one to fix it was a physio who also practised acupuncture. 20 minutes of stretching and 10 minutes of acupuncture cleared me up. That was almost a decade ago and no repeat problems.
