The Head on ya! - foamy head on beer

    Does a foamy head on beer have a purpose?

    On a pack of beer that I bought there's a bit about what to do.

    It says that a foamy head will "keep air out and carbonation in".

    I never heard this before, I didn't know that foam had a purpose.

    Aside from the above i like a foamy head on holiday not in Ireland as it seems they're trying to rip you off in Ireland with a big head.

    Keeps air out. Keeps the beer colder. Makes the beer look better. But most importantly, it alters the taste and gives the beer better mouthfeel.
