Sky tv problems since update on April 2019

Hi have Sky+ HD. Hardly anything working since Sky released an update 15th April. No planner, pause option, catch up tv etc. Tried to do Sky+ rebuild but that option is just a blank screen.
Diff advice from Sky - wait another 24 hours, get an engineer or do a software update. Did the software update but it made no difference.
Anyone here having the same problems or know of any solution please? tia

Still having issues with sky+ hd. The sky+ rebuild is still just a blue screen. I have also tried to do it via the hidden menu but it's not there either. Would anyone have any suggestions on getting the rebuild option working please?
Sorry if there was something in previous post that needed reviewing.

You could buy another box for €10 or so on DoneDeal or Adverts.ie. I certainly wouldn't cough up for a Sky engineer.

Thanks jelutong. Just didn't want to lose all my recordings & the rebuild option would have solved this if it was there.

Check out SKYepginfo.co .uk Lots of good advice on that site. It's not affiliated to SKY.

Sky engineer is free when you threaten to cancel. I've been with sky almost 30 years & never paid for an engineer or replacement equipment

That should be the case. But went from €100 to €25 if I get engineer! Wouldn't mind but it was perfect til they did t update.

Thank god for that, we can all breathe easily now knowing this.

It sounds like your box is kaput, it could have been damaged firmware during the update or it could be a hardware issue.

As long as the HDD is still functioning and the recordings are not corrupted you can swap the HDD to a replacement box and once the card is paired you will have all of your recordings back, the only way to know is to do the swap, preferably to a box of the exact same build.

A Sky "engineer" will do little more than planner rebuild, forced update, system reset (erases recordings and formats HDD) or replace box (may or may take your old one away with your recordings).

Sky have never done anything to help customers regain or retain recordings, they refuse to even acknowledge it as an issue despite it being a key feature of their product.

If I wanted to recover the recordings I would not let any Sky person near the box without either removing or copying the HDD first.

Thanks Vic_08. Lot of customers affected so maybe this will help all. If I cant get right repacement box & have to get engineer surely I can get him to swap HDD to a suitable replacement box that he should have with him? Thanks again.

Where are you getting "lots of customers affected" from?

There is a poster here that used to reply to all posts mentioning Sky engineer by saying that Sky do not send out engineers, it was rather annoying but true.

Like I said, basic diagnostic tests that it sounds like you have already done plus formatting the disk and giving you a replacement box is all you are going to get out of the Sky person. There is zero chance they will pull apart 2 boxes to swap HDDs for you. If you want a chance to get your recordings back you are going to need to have at it yourself or find someone not connected to Sky to do it.

The older SD boxes had a more typical construction that made it fairly easy to remove the HDD. The DRX series boxes are a very odd design with a number of steps needed to get at the HDD, it is fiddly and time consuming. There are you tube vids that will show you the process.

Can you look at box and get the model version?
There are numerous things that could go wrong so do this, switch off unplug from wall, wait 5 mins, while waiting take off leads at back and have a good look at contacts, swop them when you put them back.

    Now read this link
    http://www.detoxcomic.com/articles/sky-box-maintenance.html

Then switch box back on and wait for 15 minutes before touching remote. When box is back on check the signal strength on both feeds.

    dont rush.

    report back
