What is the standard rate for 1 kwh in Ireland?

Varies per provider but around 20-22c per kWh
But if you negotiate you generally will get 20-30% discount off that if you pay direct debit, new customer etc.

I currently pay 16.41c/kWh inc Vat for day rate electricity and 8.12c/kWh for night rate.

Just look at your bill to see what you are paying.... dont forget to add on the VAT.

    i'm with energia

Day rate - €0.1591 inc VAT
Night rate - €0.762 inc VAT
    Standing charge €227.07 per year.

Not sure if their still doing their €50 of 2nd bill if you switch.

i know I can look at my bill to see what I am paying, but im on a special rate

I am wondering if there is such a thing as a standard fixed cost for 1kwh

There isn’t. As I said above, it varies by provider.... 20-22c

Check their websites if you want to know any particular one.

Their “standard rates” are somewhat meaningless anyway since it isn’t what you actually pay. You need to apply the discounts and then compare.

I don't think there is one different providers charge different rates, depending on your plan.

There might be a wholesale price between providers when they sell and buy of each other but not one for the public.

There is also a feed in rate that electric Ireland pays for micro generation I think its 10c per 1kwh for first 3000 kwh

Go onto bonkers.ie and put in your provider, plan, when you went on it. It'll show you what rate you're on.

Also bear in mind that the standing charge varies hugely by supplier. And then any cashback offers skew things even more. Worth noting comparison sites aren't allowed show the effect of cashback offers on the year's estimation. For us EI was actually the cheapest when the €150 was factored in.

    +1

I got €200 cashback when I switched to EI last September (for gas + electricity)

As long as I use less than 6,000kWh per year this was cheaper for me than Energia, which had lower per kWh rates - the gas rates were near identical

    There isn't a standard rate.
It's a scam invented by the electricity suppliers.
They all have their own "standard rate" which they have plucked out of thin air.
It is basically the number they think people who are too lazy to switch will still be happy to pay.

The regulator should really set the standard rate so that it is easier to compare suppliers.
At the moment , one supplier could offer 20% off and be cheaper than another supplier offering 30% off.

There is no standard, but the average in Ireland is 23.7c per kWh as of last year: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Electricity_price_statistics
