    Has anyone noticed the multitude of hastily written news pieces on many of our mainstream news outlets lately?

    Here is a prime example;

    There are many, many more...

    I noticed several dubious usages in the quotes from Nancy Pelosi. Unless he was quoting verbatim from her speech, it does reflect badly on the writer.

    Been going on a while now. There isn't the money for a decent sub-editing setup any more. I get there will be the occasional typo - human error is unavoidable.

    But the errors now seem to indicate just no proof-reading at all.

    The journal, her.ie, joe.ie are notorious for it. Their articles are mostly unreadable because of it, they make no sense. It would be rare for her.ie or joe.ie to have anything that would catch my eye anyway but the poor editing is reason alone not to pay attention to their work.

    Rte.ie are serial offenders.

    It won’t take long to find a few examples.

    Presume it's becuse most of it is pasted from other sources and needs to be immediately topical.

    As said, sub-editing is a trade that going the way of the broadsheets: struggling to stay afloat in a sea of pleb outrage and clickbait.

    It comes down to people leaving education without a grasp of grammar and spelling.
