If you are ploughing a field and the ploughing starts to go curvy what's the correct way to straighten the ploughing so that your ploughing straight again? Standard plough with no fancy vari widths etc.

Where are you going crooked in the middle or at the ends?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

You’ll have to ploughing it out. If it’s in a U shape. Start at either end of the field and do short runs back in toward the middle until it’s straight. That’s if it’s bad. If it’s only slightly out just try keep the tractor straight and work it out of it over a couple of runs

I find it easier to straighten up with a 2wd tractor funny enough, it seems to be easier to keep the wheel up on the ploughed furrow or shove it against the furrow wall to straighten things up.

One thing I learned was if you need to widen where you plough, ie. if the ends are wider than the middle, drop the plough down an inch or two at the middle so that it 'grabs' more soil, it will plough wider for you. Sort of like what you would do with a hydraulic cross shaft.

Opposite will work too, rise it up to take a smaller bite, but it's not as successful as going deeper.

Little hills, esb poles and water troughs are all a blastard:o

Have you a disc on the back furrow, it makes a cleaner furrow wall for you?

Are you brave enough to stick up a pic?

Some lads just over think the job. Wexford lads take it to Hart all together. At the end of the day it's just turning the sod over.
