So I bought the car in late January for €3500 with a 3 month warranty. All seemed okay with it but a few weeks later the timing belt snapped in it so I got it towed to the garage and he fixed it with a reconditioned engine which he said cost him €1500. He started the warranty again as it took him 3 weeks to fix it. A few weeks later it broke down on me again. He got it towed up and he said it was a different problem and it would take a week to fix it. I told him I don't want that car back and that I'd prefer a different car of the same value or €2500 cash back. He said the best he can do is another car of the same make and model but a year older and some cash back to make up the value difference. Everybody Ive talked to seems to think I'm being too easy with him and should demand all my money back.

What was the second problem with it?

Not sure but it wasn't something small anyway. There is several other small issues with it as well. It struggles to start first thing in the morning and ever since the engine rebuild, the air filter is making a wheezing noise. I think it's just a faulty car.

Sounds like a lemon to me. Have you checked to see if he's with SIMI ?

Yeah he is simi approved. Like he probably didn't know it was a dud of a car when he bought it but it has proven to be.

You are really at the mercy of the dealer here, seems to be fairly fair so far.
Don't think you get a refund though

No already tried that. Couldn't even get €2500 back

    That's not true.
Contact SIMI and ask them to mediate.

Good one, they’ll likely take an age to make a recommendation that won’t go halfway to solving the issue.... and that’s after they ask for endless paperwork/evidence and you’ll be off the road in the meantime... give the dealer fair chance to fix issues and if you’ve lost confidence in the car after dealer has fixed it sell it privately to get most of your money back and buy another car

I just think the car is a lemon and I wouldn't even feel good selling it on to somebody. That's why I want him to take it back. Let him sell it on if he wants. Just hope I don't get another ****box off him
