It's horrible to talk about something this serious this flippantly.

    Suspicious package in the mailroom

Until there's something a bit more concrete then flippancy is the only way.

No comment would be better than flippancy.

Hoax bomb threat against the Australian embassy apparently.

Possibly related to Assange or something.

Some context might help I assume it's ( the context ) something like drugs. Well we're not all from drug areas, crank means hoax from where I'm from.

I was imagining jason Statham on a call he wasn't allowed hang up on, or his heart would explode.

When I was growing up they were prank calls, I've almost never heard anyone but Americans call them crank calls (a bit like curse/cuss).

It was "Crank" from 2006 - did well enough, it netted ~€30m. And the premise was Statham's character had been injected with a mysterious, adrenaline-inhibiting drug which meant he had to keep his stress/excitement levels up in order to prevent his heart from cutting out.

    There was also Crank 2

I'm not sure which one involved the scene of baby making in the middle of the street to keep the adrenaline flowing.

Have you never heard them being called crank calls? I heard the term ‘crank call’ before I’d ever heard ‘prank call’.

That would be the first one, featuring the delectable Amy Smart. :D
