Do you think it's possible to form a strong connection online?

I met my missus online and it was a year and a half before we met in person, I definitely had strong feelings for her by then and I think I was in love with her. I know there are people who think that you can't connect with someone you meet online because it's not ''real''.

So, people of After Hours, what do you think? Can you form a bond or a connection with people online or are we all just usernames on a screen?

you can get on with someone and establish a basis for a relationship that isnt starting. from scratch

but no- you cant fall in love online imo, unless you were already willing to dive straight in with whatever you were offered in the first place

I've made friends with CF in the past (as we aren't supposed to meet in person) and I've been genuinely sad when they passed away so I've had more experience than just my partner. Though I wasn't in love with those people of course I did care for them.

You can definitely build up a good relationship with someone online but you dont "know" them until you meet them.

And you dont know if there will be any chemistry in real life. That holds for non romantic online friendships too - you might find the person comes off as a d1ckhead in real life even if you got on well with them online.

In love? Some people think they are in love after only a couple of dates so who knows - depends on how loosely you define being in love.

The big issue with an online relationship is that you never REALLY know if what you are getting is the truth until you meet them in real life.

That's what they want you to believe.

Of course guy can form a bond with someone on-line...that's not in doubt...look how a death has affected certain parts of our communitys heart.
We miss certain posters when they are quiet...we get invested in other people's joys and sorrows...that's all part and parcel of an online community
