Fixed wireless and packet loss

I'm currently with Lightnets fixed wireless broadband. I get really good speeds for my area 30-40 download and 20 upload.

Ping always comes in around 35-40ms. My only problem is packet loss.

I game quite a bit on Xbox and when I run network checks through the console, packet loss is always 1-2% sometimes it's been as high as 6%

My question is, even though everything is wired to the router, because it's fixed wireless is this impossible avoid or is it worth me getting in touch and trying to find a solution?

Can you do a test using a command prompt from a machine on the network.

    Ping 8.8.8.8 -n 1000 -l 1024

    Post the results here.

Lightnets FWA is just glorified Wifi IIRC, its inherent to using public spectrum.

That's not so much the issue. With the speeds he is quoting, he is probably on their Cambrium platform, which should be pretty decent and one way beam forming, like 4G.

Having packet loss like that with modern technology fixed wireless points to maybe an impaired path to the base. The frequencies that most of the fixed wireless providers (us including) operate, really need Line of Sight. Any try or structure in the way and your signal will not be optimal.

When we launched our Jet service, which is two way beam forming, we were hoping for better performance at near line of sight, but we've very quickly dropped that idea. The good thing is, that we found, that when we apply the same limitations as we do with our older tech, we get rock solid latency and no packet loss on the newer platform.

I'm on fixed wireless with a provider using radwin jet air equipment and I don't get anything more than the odd packet loss blip when I'm gaming. PUBG displays the stats continuously so I'd notice I think.

Have a very direct line of sight though.

Not sure if it's a whole lot of help but just to let you know packet loss free gaming is possible on some types of fixed wireless.
