What is this cable for?!

Hi. I'm wondering what this cable is for. The same cable runs into every house in the apartment complex where I live.

    Dual Fibre Optic Patch Cord

I asked management company and they thought Broadband but I don't think so, as it's Fibre to the home and Broadband comes in elsewhere. Also Magnet said they didn't recognize the cable.

If it's satellite cable, it seems to be too big to fit into Satellite box. It has a white plastic "wire" in the centre instead of copper. Is there an adapter for this I wonder.

    Thanks if anyone knows.

I wonder if its Sky's IRS (Fibre Integrated Reception System), fibre connection to each apartment. Requires an optical converter between fibre and sat box.

Is there a communal satellite dish?

Yup That’s exactly what it is.

Yes there must be a communal dish. I haven't seen ours but can see others around.

So I need an optical converter?

Can you send a link I've searched for one and not sure which one I need.

    Thanks for your help.

Haven't ever played with a fibre connected sat setup but I'm guessing this will be what you're looking for - https://www.gionlineshop.com/product_detail.php?code=D000187&product=gi-fibreirs-quad-gtu-mkiii&sm=4

A caveat, the fibre connection to your apartment may not be connected and may only be if you take out a Sky sub.
