Would it be possible to do a one coat sand & cement render on a small built up garden wall out a back garden. There is two walls which are stepped. First wall is under 2ft while another was is just over 2ft.

What’s best mix if it can be done! Wall is scudded.

I would have said the first cost should be a scratch coat then a finish coat.

Yeah kceire you are right, but just wondering can it be done seeing as it's only 2ft walls etc. You can get one coat beading

A good scudding job is a powerful base for a finish coat of plaster on a large area.

It can be done in one coat .12 sand , 2 cement ,1 lime is the mix with a small squirt of waterproofer in the water . If it's a DIY job though a scratch coat wouldn't so astray first to even out the suction and help you get the hang of getting it tidy on the wall and straightened .
Get the mix nice and its half the battle .Give it plenty of time mixing and dont add too much water at the start , let it mix itself nice and soft but with a bit of body as opposed to being flat and sloppy when its on the shovel

When you say 12 sand. Plastering sand only? Or one or two shovels of mortar thrown in?
