    Hi everyone,

I want to buy either a vintage road bike or fixie to restore. I don't mind if it is just the frame. It needs to be suitable for a 6 foot 1 male. The cheaper the better!

    Cheers

I have a frame that might suit a fixie I'll dig it out over the weekend.

Plenty in the Rebike workshop, but we're in Waterford.

Save yourself money, time and effort and buy one in good to mint condition on ebay. Seriously.

Unless you have access to pro paints and gear you will not be able to give it a quality paint finish that will last.

Powder coat will be durable but may well hide some of the features that make old steel frames attractive such as the lugwork.

If you really want to put personal effort into it then I'd recommend you buy a frame and parts separately. Likely to be a lot more expensive this way.

I spent a few years following the vintage sales on ebay. You can get a good deal but it takes time and patience.

It would seem, to me at least, that the time and effort may be the actual goal
