Heating issues since new rad installed?

I called a plumber out to move a radiator from one wall to another wall a feet feet away. He gave me a quote of €320 which I thought was a little steep as I chased out the floor and the walls for the new pipes myself as he did not seem too keen on doing this.

Anyway, he proceeded to start work and asked me if there was anyone upstairs in the bedrooms and I said there was someone in one room but it was no problem for me to get them to leave. He said aw sure it doesn't matter, I can drain the system from here and not knowing much about this, I just said fine. He starts work and an hour later, the new feeds were fitted and off he goes. (The radiator is not being installed until after plastering so he has to come back to do this).

This is where the problems start... The following day, I try to turn on the heating and the boiler keeps conking out so I call him and he comes back. He spent the next 3 hours grumbling and banging the pipes with a wrench whilst grumbling that my system was full of air and it's taking forever to release it.

He then tells me that the valve on my water tank is faulty and the automatic switching is not working correctly but he won't be fixing it because he has already wasted 3 hours trying to get the heating going. He then says it seems to be working now and leaves.

Last night, I switch on the heating for an hour but a couple of hours later I realize that it is still going. I check the timer and it has switched of but the boiler is still going and in the end, I have to switch the boiler off at the mains.

The heating was working perfectly before he turned up. Did he do something to cause the issues or is this all just a strange coincidence?

Check the motorised zone valve lever hasn't been left in the manual (Man) position on the actuator. He may have put it there to help get the air out and forgot to put it back into the auto position.
Phone him and ask was he at it.
