Can anyone point out a watch with a 7 o'clock seconds subdial that they liked?

I'm at a loss trying to find one - the designs I've seen so far (and from fancy names such as Chopard, Philippe Dufour) have all seemed unbalanced.

So - can anyone point out a watch that has a 7 o'clock seconds subdial that looks great (in their eyes)?

This is what I'm talking about:

I'm right there with you TF. :)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Interesting - uploading the photo for people too lazy to go through to the link:

This might be the only watch I've seen so far that doesn't look hugely unbalanced. I think it's to do with the second hand being balanced on both sides - so there is an instrument cluster feel to the face rather than a wart on one side :D

But as soon as Oris starts dressing it up with further subdials it becomes a convoluted mess (in my eyes):

Found another one that looks semi-ok - I think here once the tourbillon has been placed at the extreme end of the face it becomes less disorienting than if it had been further in the dial...

Don't like the rest of the watch but just making the point that the 7 o'clock sub-dial doesn't seem too offensive to the eyes.

Oris make some fine pieces don't they. I think they are a tad over priced though?

    Overpriced in comparison to...?

Here's one which was suggested on WUS - not half bad - again it's making the subdial a focus point and feature rather than trying to "hide" it on the face:

Humans like patterns. I think it will always look a little off on any watch, and even if you are trying to hide it, your eye will be drawn to it simply because it doesn't fit.

The red crown adjust the inner numbered bezel, so it's a quick and easy dual time zone watch.
I wear mine on the leather strap or a black/grey nato.

A good dive watch from Seiko? Just my opinion.

A perfectly valid opinion, but perhaps not fair to single out Oris in that way - pretty much everything looks overpriced in comparison to Seiko divers. I think Oris compare quite favourably on value with their compatriots.

Everything is overpriced when you compare them to Seiko

True Haha, but I think all the swiss brands from €1000 to €2500 are in the same tier as the more expensive but sub €1000 Seiko.

Sub second dials don't work for me at all, but how about at 9 instead of 7?

However a dial at 6 looks symmetrical and I like the clean look of Nomos dials even with a sub-dial. Sort of follows on from Artanvillas point about humans liking patterns. It's why chronographs have all their hands pointing properly when they pose to have their picture taken:D
