Has anybody on here had theirs done and how successful was it? Are they happy with the results?

Our kitchen is in 23yrs and is still in very good condition so debating whether to just paint them rather than upgrade now

Just a bit sceptical on scratches and would you see the old kitchen underneath, do they scratch that easy or is the paint used very hard wearing?

    Thanks

I did it 5 years go. Very time consuming diy but still looks new.

    Preparation is key.
    Thoroughly clean/ wash them.
    Bin zissner primer
    Base coat
    Finish coat.

    Use small/med foam rollers.

The shellac primer (BIN) is expensive so I would only cover the knots with this ( prevents and resins seeping through top coats). Then an adhesion primer e.g. Bloxx It by Fleetwood is one of the best on the market. It will also act as an undercoat and can be tinted to main colour. Finally, 2 topcoats. ( Oil based ones are tougher than water based but will yellow over time). I would also use a mohair roller. It gives the smoothest finish by far. There is a new brand called Two fussy Blokes which are excellent. I'm not a fan of the foam rollers, they can leave an "orange peel" effect on the finished coat. ( not all of them )

    thanks for the replies

No issues with them chipping paint if they get a knock?
My concern is that a knock could chip off the paint and show the underside
