Cost to fix heating

    Hi folks,

We have an issue with the heating at home.
Our hot water works fine but the heating doesn't.
It looks like our boiler is fine as it's firing up and heating water.

I had a RGII registered technician come out and have a look.

He would like to drain the whole system and replace one valve (motor lever - not sure of the exact term) and he's asked for €400.

just wanted to check that if this is the norm. To me it's not :)

    Thanks

It sounds like a motorised zone valve is busted and needs replacement. Sometimes its not necessary to change the entire valve, something that does require system draining, more often its only the electrical actuator, which does not require any drain down.
Can you post a picture of the electric zone valves on your pipework?
