The 1* reviews are not confidence inspiring on any of these. Refurbished or renewed just seems to be a word put in there to encourage a sale. It would appear to be very hit and miss.

The x230 is ancient these days. They are a very upgradeable laptop, I think you one night even have a socketed CPU, but it's not worth £250 with study I assume is the base 1372x768 screen. You can find newer generation version for the danger money.

If you want a laptop for that money from Amazon, I think I'd sell the vouchers and look elsewhere

Never bought a renewed laptop from amazon so i don't know what they're like but I saw this laptop at the bottom of your link and I have one myself and they are bulletproof. And if anything breaks the parts are easy to change( if you're any way handy with a screwdriver), and its only a dual core I5 with 4 threads but its a pretty fast once you stick an ssd in it.

You need to be careful here. This is not really coming from Amazon. This is coming from a 3rd party seller LOOP8 LTD, but granted it is fulfilled by Amazon which should cover you in a worst case scenario.

I wouldn't touch this. It's a 6 year old machine with 6 year old parts. You would be far better looking at a 400eur laptop new tbh.

Bullet proof but ancient. I seriously wouldn't bother. Bad processor by today's standards and that 320GB HDD doesn't bear thinking about how slow it would be. Your money would be far better spent elsewhere.

ideally aim for full hd 1080p ips screen these days (old sub-full hd non ips screens on laptops are rubbish), 8gb ram, ssd drive, cpu core i3 or better.

amazon uk not the best value for buying laptops usually. maybe save your vouchers for something else.

I bought my parents that Ezbook, just for casual browsing and office. It's a nice laptop, good screen and very slim/light.

If you’re looking for a refurbished laptop I’d look no further than itzoo. I got a t440 for €135 not long ago. Bought an SSD for €25 and it was a very good laptop for college work and could even run photoshop fairly ok but could have done with an extra 4GB RAM stick which I could have got but ended up selling it on before I got around to it.

Stock comes and goes so you’d need to refresh daily if you’re on the hunt, also get 12 month warranty for peace of mind. Stick to grade A machines and you won’t go wrong. Would recommend Thinkpads or Dell latitudes for ease of repair/upgrade.
