If that is the only consideration is there any advice?

Does mowers' speed depend on engine size?

I normally just cut the grass without bagging and then rake (or bag it) it in areas that are important.

    Width is your consideration.

They all have a sort of maximum effective speed above which they don’t really have time to do a good cut.

The solution is the same forward speed but cutting a wider area as you go thus reducing overall mowing time.

Engine size doesn't dictate the speed of the blades..it dictates the ability of the blades to maintain that speed while cutting a wider/longer/wetter area of grass.

So basically the bigger the engine and the wider the blades the quicker it will cut.
