Was in computer earlier & they were saying they didn’t think there’d be a new one this year because they just got ecg approval for most of the world so they may delay into 2020 for an updated model.

Was wondering when they usually announce it.

It’s usually in September alongside the iPhone. I wouldn’t take the word of any one working in any store.

So is it announced in September and released then or is there a greater gap between announcement & release?

    A week or two max.

apple employees don't even get notice of new products until they are official announced (apart from those who need to know) ... employees of third party Apple resellers most definitely don't get any pre-release information.

All they can do is a best guess based off experience and rumours.

Generally they have updated the watch once a year since launch .. just like other iOS devices and this usually happed in autumn with the product being available to order a week or two afterwards.

I wouldn't hold off buying one now if you want one.

Without doubt there will be a new Apple Watch every September/October! They won't wait 2 years between releases. Even if it's a small update or change, they aren't really aiming for people with the latest/last version, it's those that are on version 1, 2 or 3. There is always someone with a device that's a few years old and looking to upgrade.
