Hi all, ive been applying for lots of jobs in the public service.
I have just started in the civil service. I am near the top of the HSE panel and i have been called for interview for the council.

Which is the best and why.
If i get a HSE or council job it will be local. I currently have an hourly commute to my civil service job but after 2 years can relocate locally.

I have flexi time in civil service whic is great.

What are the pros and cons of each, which is the better option.

Generally better holidays in the council.
    Each is different though.

Might be good for you to list (to yourself) what you think you want from a job.

Then weight up the jobs to what you want and see what suits you best.

If you are unsure what you want, then have a google about career paths and get a feeling for what people do. See if anything sounds like something you want.

Thanks, its not about the type of job. Its more conditions, flexi time, holidays, mobility, pay, overtime, variety of work and promotion opportunities. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of more than one which would they prefer and why.

What position in the Council is it?

Typically, the Council have flexi time but it depends on section to section and council to council.

Also, hours of work are different to the Civil Service.
Salary wise, they are publically available, so if you give the job tile, we can check.

Overtime - I don't hear of much OT in the LA that I am based, but i'm Technical, but the Admin in my section don't get much if any OT opportunities.
