Civil service secondments?

    Hi folks,

I'm working in a government agency (small agency) for over a year now. I'm full time permanent HEO level and I've passed what they call PMDS (review thing).

I'm interested in seeing what other roles are available in other departments or agencies and I'm wondering where does one look?

I'm in no rush or anything, but I've never seen any secondments being advertised on public jobs etc.

I noticed recently that there was some "Secondment Opportunities in the Department of Public Expenditure" however this was not advertised (that I saw) on public jobs.

The only roles I seem to get on internal email relate only to the agency where I'm based.

Do you think I'm missing a email list or is this normal?

    Thanks a million

I've had 5 emails last week relating to all sorts of secondments in the CS.
Ask your local HR about it.

Oh wow, okay. In the last year I've seen none at all outside of our agency.

    Thanks a million.

Your HR might have decided not to circulate the messages as they might not feel they are in a position to release staff.

    Agreed, however I will ask.

I assumed any roles, secondments or otherwise would be published on public jobs under confined to serving civil servants.

    Thanks again.

Unions sometimes know about them and email about issues regarding them if nothing is circulating internally.

Aside from PMDS, I think passing probation and a minimum of 2/3 years in services can some (not all) times be part of the conditions. The conditions are usually worded out in the booklets.
