Toilet not flushing under stairs. It fills nearly to rim then slowly disvharges. I've used rods outside from manhole end but they can't get past what I assume is a sharp turn about 6 rod lengths in. I removed toilet and tried rods that end but pipe is sharp l shape and can't get rod to bend . Is this a plumber or a drain company style solution? Pipe clear up to 6 rods in was no blockage.

Call a drain company, they’ll have it free in 10 mins

Most likely the siphon washer has worn out a new one cost about 2/3 quid but a cut out from a plastic milk carton would suffice. it is a 5min job and a plumber will normally ask for around 80 quid call out charge 30 quid for the part probably add vat for something that costs **** all .Personally I would not give them bastards a washer.
I have a spare siphon washer and a spare Siphon Cistern and if you live near me well.
    PM me.
    Regards Sajid

It's new toilet 🚽 less than year old. The cistern fills empties no prob, it's the bowl that doesn't empty, I figured a blockage down the pipe somewhere, would it really be the toilet at fault?

Had a similar issue recently, I know it's not much help to you now but!
The best investment I've made has been a drain cleaning attachment for my pressure washer.
€20 in Aldi a few years ago and already paid for itself in unblocking grey and black water drains and gutters too.

Had a similar issue lately. Try "plunging" it with the toilet brush. Push the toilet brush right down to the bottom, it creates a plunging action.
I had my toilet clear in about 2 minutes.

Is the bowl full? Boiling water + plunging?

What did you put down it :)

    Apologies,

    Here ya go!

    https://www.aldi.co.uk/high-pressure-pipe-cleaner/p/093094007556400

It's even been used on the main sewer line as one of my neighbours is quite fond of emptying their chip pan down the bloody drain!

€20 on one of those even if it only saves ya one visit from Dyno-rod or similar is money very well spent!

(Assuming of course ya have a pressure washer to use it with)

It fills on flushing then drains slowly over a minute, at manhole only water comes out nothing solid etc. Think kids were using wipes over a prolonged period little feckers

You'll do well to clear wipes from it with the DIY tricks, they don't break down the same way as toilet roll.
I'd say give Dynorod a shout!
Remember 3 things go down the toilet - poo, pee and paper (toilet paper)

Probably no use now but a shower hose is ideal for this when in a bind. They bend and are strong. Make sure clean it afterwards :)

Plunge it with a mop, best way to plunge a toilet, everything else is too small,
I end up having to do it for a downstairs toilet in the house and it works well.

(dont use the same mop for the floor :D )

    Another option is caustic soda

IlIf wipes have bern going down yhe loo they can snag and cause an obstruction that builds up over time, unlike toilet paper they don't dissolve in the system. could be your soil pipe is blocked down the line. Give drain doctor a call.

Was gonna suggest caustic soda myself, but I decided the blockage was too far down for it to reach it.

Think Dynarod are the only option.

Ring drain doctor instead...last time I used them they were half the price.

Yeah, people we've used locally are very reasonable, very quick and very effective.

If you have a power washer then get a drain unblocking hose (power jetting I think it's called) and work your way up from the drain manhole. It's a good investment :)

Update: Took toilet out, checked issue wasn't toilet (it flushed fine in back garden) . Neighbours power washer broken so bought myself one and drain attachment from Lidl. 120 yoyos. Spent time coming at it from both ends (said the bishop to the nun) and was about to give up when a tsunami of sh1t and baby wipes passed by. All working now and a new skill learned. Thanks everyone.

I've used one of these before for clearing blocked drains. Well worth the 20 euro

I was looking at these a week or so ago. Do they fit Karcher washers or just Lidl own brand?

Had a similar problem last week. Called Irish water and they had someone out and issue fixed within 2 hours.

The blockage was a few doors up.

Who would have thought Irish Water could be useful!
