Moving home can I claim tax back from uk

    As the title says are we entitled to claim tax back from UK when moving back to Ireland.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

    Yes you can claim tax back if you worked in the UK for only a few months of the current financial year.

    The end of the financial year in the UK is actually today, 5th April. So if you were to leave today then you would get nothing back because you lived there for a full financial year (assuming you were in the country for the full year too).

    If however you worked in the UK for the next few months and then left, you would be entitled to some of that tax back.

    On the flip side if you move to the UK part way through the financial year you will not be charged tax until you have earned enough to use up those few months of tax free allowance.
