Hi all. Hope everyone is well. I bought my son a 2003 Yamaha DT 125. Wanted to get a new chain & sprocket set. M&P on eBay had the one I wanted. I asked first if the one in the picture would fit his bike. Yes they said. Ordered it and when it arrived,it was a 6bolt hole sprocket whereas his has 4 bolt holes. Contacted M&P and they said,"Send us the vin number". Did that from the V5 & was told, " Sorry, vin number is 17 digits, yours has only 6. Checked the headstock very carefully with a jeweller's loop and came up with 3TT-095048. Still no good.
Can anyone tell me what the vin on this bike refers too and why hasn't it got the full 17 digits?
    Many thanks & ride safe.
    L&R,
    Tink

M and P are wrong 17 digit vins only came much later. 3TT1 is a 1990 DT 125R check your engine number and reference that against the frame number they might be the same if the engine hasn’t been swapped at some point.

Thanks CJ. I'll check the engine number tomorrow. I'm struggling with m&p over who pays for the return postage. I say it's down to them for sending an item that doesn't match the illustration. They say my son's got the wrong sprocket on the bike. Christ knows how they come up with that. Sent a return request through eBay & got to wait, possibly, 8 days for them to get back to me. What a game eh.
