    Genuinely?

Moving into my home place at the end of this month (essentially moving back home to the house I grew up in)

So Eir landline in place for decades and also fiber running past the house.

Three times I’ve rang up Eir sales stating I want to enquire in regards to my options for broadband.

Three times I’ve been told sorry I can’t deal with your call I can only deal with brand new customers , I’ll transfer you the loyalty team!

Three times I’ve sat on hold for 10 to 15 mins before I said eff this. Currently on hold again now for 12 mins with nothing.

Honestly, I rang up sky in regards to sorting out the tv and they couldnt have been more helpful and gave me a great offer for transferring over broadband to them but I said listen I’ll come back to you as I want to see what’s on offer with eir etc.

    What’s the point?

    Ring a different provider!
Why care about eir at all ....... unless the present service is in contract.

It costs a lot more per month for existing customers than for new ones ..... that is eir's loyalty!

try airwire.ie to see if they provide service to your new location.

I had occasion over the last two days to contact eir technical help, and was pleasantly surprised, both by speed of answering and how helpful and pleasant they were to deal with.

It was a real contrast to my previous encounters some months ago.

It seems to me that the move to bring the customer service back in house, with mostly locals employed, is paying dividends.

The only frustrating part of the experience was having to listen to all the BS before I got to select to whom I want to be connected.

Due to a severe lightening event the modem (amongst others) got tickled so that it leaked all its smoke.
Unfortunately it seems my i5 NUC is not well either :(

Eir will send out a replacement F2000 .... should have it by Monday ...... but in the meantime I am using a discarded Vodafone modem and getting just under 100 Mb/s down and under 30Mb/s up.
Not bad for a temporary fix :D

Why would you even try. Look at all the reviews and posts about eir.

If I never have to deal with them again it will be too soon.

Had a bad week with their technical support . Wi-Fi gone in the house , network disappearing intermittently. No issues with broadband through Ethernet cable. Must have talked to about 10 people from the technical support team. Made all sorts of adjustments to router but didn't fix it . Logged 3 faults and issue still wasn't resolved. I demanded a modem replacement. But was told because I was out of contract, I wasn't eligible. Chanced my arm and said I was thinking about changing providers. They said ok , sorry to hear that . Was a little surprised but it is what it is . Was told if I renewed contract they would replace modem, if not it would be 40 euros. To be fair , I'm very happy with the broadband.

I eventually renewed the contract for a year under the condition they would replace the modem . They said fine. Renewed the contract , THEN was told I had to wait until the contract was processed until I could get the modem. Waited a day & checked the eir app to see the progress until it was processed . Then got back into the chat service to sort it out . Was passed around 5 or 6 representatives until I was told I had to ring the 1800 number to sort it . Was on hold for 20 minutes , then took another 20 minutes for it to be approved.

So just waiting for the modem now . Hopefully the gb service will be available at some stage down the road . Would have switched providers but none of then offer anything better .
