False economy I would think. Those budget extractors rely on blowing the dust out through the bag and you can't see them filling up. I would save the cash and get a two stage extractor preferably with a cartridge style top.

Thanks; as usual I rushed my post and should have put in more detail!

I already have a spare cyclone separator that I'll be passing it through and I use translucent bins for collection; no opaque bags for me!

The only component that I wouldn't have in the chain but could make later is a fine dust filter, so yeah possibly false economy there.

The Axminster example is purely to show the type of fan I was thinking of - I've had a look on the likes of AliExpress and there's a massive variance in price from obvious trash to obviously over-priced and _probably_ not trash for motors!

Something like one of the small workshop Oneida package systems is more like what I'm thinking of building: https://www.oneida-air.com/dust-collectors/personal-shops/1-5-hp-mini-gorilla-cyclone-dust-collector

The thing to remember is that all separators put extra resistance on the system. Get the largest diameter possible but in duct size and separate diameter.

Look into a thien baffle they work very well and are fun to build. I have built a few. Get the largest motor moving the most air possible that your power will allow. You can never have too much cfm
