Wifi long pings and dropouts every few minutes

    hi all,
recently upgraded the firmware to DD-Wrt on my Buffalo wzr-hp-g450h (its old!). I was great before the upgrade but now on the laptop (dont see it on the mobile phone) the Wifi drops out every few minutes. I've done a ping -t to the gateway/router and i can see long pings and then the "request timed out" message occurring.
I've tried different channels on the wifi but no joy. and there are no more firmware updates available. the funny thing is I have a 2nd router joined to the network in the garage (via LAN cable and DHCP off on it) and the wifi is absolutely perfect on that. its on channel 1 and the primary wifi is on Channel 2.

any ideas as what is happening before i get a new router?

downloaded a Wifi Analyzer app which suggested i move the wifi to a different channel and it appears more stable this evening on the laptop. ::Fingers Crossed::
