Claiming emergency tax from previous employer?

Hi, sorry to bother you all but I've been going through page after page on the revenue website and I still have no clue in what order to handle this...

My father worked for just 4 weeks last year, just above 2k gross income and got emergency taxed on all of that. He's back to work now with a new employer, so from my understanding, in order to claim the emergency taxes from last year, he needs to send a P50 form. However, given that was his only income last year, he shouldn't have paid any tax or usc whatsoever, so how do I go about claiming that back for him?

Ah yes. I should have mentioned I just helped him get set up on revenue.ie and guess what, the "Add job or pension" page doesn't work and just throws an error, so no P21 option. Guess I'll have to give them a ring tomorrow. Fun times.

Well, his revenue got all set up now, I proceeded to fill out form 12 but there's no employment on record according to revenue, even though I'm holding his p45 in my hand... I knew it's gonna take forever, nothing's ever easy with revenue.

Was he receiving social welfare? Some benefits are taxable so he might not get as much back as you expect.

He wasn't getting anything at all. Came here to work and had to go back to take care of his mother after 4 weeks. Now he's back and working again. It doesn't even give me an option to choose P21.

I made less than 12k last year but declared that as expected income when applying for new tax credit certificate and didn't pay any tax or usc, so neither should he?

Send his P45 to Revenue through My Enquiry in his online account.

Looks like neither his employer or himself registered his job with Revenue.

Did just that, thanks. 20-25 days, lovely!
