Hi, I know that it’s going to differ with all government or civil service jobs but roughly how long were you waiting to hear if you got called for an interview or not?
    Thanks so much

It depends on many factors. I think good CV significantly increases your chances to get the job faster.

In my experience it was pretty quickly. Perhaps 1 - 3 days.

I've had everything from the walk home from the interview being called to not getting word for 2 weeks. My advice is to continue your job search and do more interviews, that way if there is an offer you have more irons in the fire to negotiate.

Anything between one hour after applying ( auto rejection by their HR system) to six months.

For a civil service job in one of the big competitions it'll be from 3 months to 2 years.

Thanks so much for your replies. Still no word on it 4 weeks after the ad came down so it's definitely a slow process! Think I'll keep having a look around and hopefully I'll hear soon enough.

It's definitely not an exact science, i've gotten replies moments after applying and in other instances, over a year later when i'd completely forgotten about the role.

Human error can account for a lot in the recruitment process!

How long is a piece of string?

I have clients that will open a process and have the contract signed with successful candidate within a week to clients that take weeks to review applications.

A few weeks in the HSE, months with another State Body and four months where I am now.

Thanks for the replies-I'm still waiting to hear so guess it will be another while!

I am still waiting to hear back from an interview I had 7 weeks ago with a 3rd level institution. They told me they’d get back to me in 2 weeks, but neither I or my referees have heard a tap.
Then again, their CV deadline was the first week of 2019. Not going to hold my breath on this one! Oh well, whatever!

It's so frustrating isn't it?! On the job I applied for it said that they're hoping to interview in April-guess that's not going to happen at this rate!

Oh totally! I’d always add some buffer to whatever timeline they give you.
The main advantage is that it’s only one panel interview. I had six interviews and a written test with a US multinational a couple of years ago over 2 months, and they ghosted me! I refuse to use their site now

I can understand if a key stakeholder is unavailable to sign off, but it is only manners to keep your shortlisted interviewees posted. I don’t think they realize how this comes across, it’s like they never heard of Glassdoor ;-)
