Ideal desk height.

I've just built a home office and want to install a built-in desk.

The ideal office desk seems to be around 74 cm. However, the main window—which is to my left—is a good bit higher than this. It would feel like I'm sitting very low and I won't be able to see out.

I'm thinking of going for a bar counter height (42") and sitting on a high stool. Most of my work will be done in a sitting position but with some standing.

Does anyone have a similar set-up? How do you find it? Is sitting on a high stool ergonomically safe?

    Many thanks.

Typing while walking wouldn't really be my style. I do hoard old hard disks though!

The ideal desk is one that can raise up and down so you can work sitting or standing. Can you maybe build something that is adjustable?

Good idea BailMeOut. I'll have a look at that.

The desk in the video is of that type as can be seen from the supports. ;)
