DISEqC Motor, quattro LNB and Multiswitch

Have an 80cm dish and Technomate DISEqC motor.

Problem. I'd like to receiver from 19.2e and 28.2e.

Currently, I have the dish aimed at 28.2e with one quattro LNB feeding an 8 output multiswitch.

Would now like to add 19.2e.

As I see it, there are two possibilities but need some help on possible installation/reception problems.

Possible solution A: Mount the quattro LNB on the DISEqC motor and set up for 28.2e and 19.2e. However, will the multiswitch pass the control signal from the STB to the DISEqC motor? If not, then possible solution B.

Possible solution B: Forget about the DISEqC motor. Instead, mount the quattro LNB along with a "regular" LNB on the dish. The quattro LNB is aimed at 28.2e; the regular LNB is aimed at 19.2e. The quattro LNB/multiswitch arrangement would be as is currently; the regular LNB only feeds a dedicated single STB (bypassing the multiswitch). Any tips for successfully mounting the two LNBs on the one dish appreciated.

Any other solution but not two dishes!

I use a TD88 dish with Triax MultiLNB arm.
    Current setup is 9e/10e, 13e, 16e, 19.2e, 23.5e and 28.2e. all feeding 2 diseqc switches.

Most of my viewing is on 28.2, added 19.2 for the Spanish language services and then just decided to see how far I could push my set up.
At one point I had 7LNBs up there.

My current setup offers near instant sat switching, no motor worries and the mount can be rock solid.
I've posted on this sub regarding my own setup with photos previously and it might offer some ideas as might a few others on the photos thread.

My guess is the Diseqc switching signal won't pass-through the multiswitch and the best option would be Option B.
I have a triple LNB setup on a fixed dish via Diseqc switches to various TV points in the house. Instant switching between satellite positions as required.

    Do you use the motor?

    Thanks Guys.

Question The Cush.... Option B. Could I combine one of the four quattro LNB signals (which one) from the dish; feed that signal to a DISEqC switch along with the signal from the regular LNB before connecting the combined signals plus the other three from the quattro LNB into the multiswitch so that any output of the multiswitch will have both 19.2e and 28.2e. If not, could I replace the regular LNB with (another) quattro LNB; combine each of the HV, HH, LV and LH signals from each quattro LNB with the respective 4 signals from the other quattro LNB using 4 DISEqC switches and feed the combined 4 signals into the multiswitch?

    My head hurts :D

No, a receiver looking for a particular channel via a multiswitch will go to required sub-band/input from the dish, inputs cant be shared.

What you require is an 9/x multiswitch. 4 quad or quattro feeds from each LNB (+terrestrial if required). The connected receiver will then select the required satellite and required sub-band via Diseqc switching internally in the multiswitch. Example of a 9x4 multiswitch (4 outputs) - https://www.freetv.ie/9x4-satellite-and-terrestrial-multiswitch/

I use a 17x8 multiswitch with 4 LNBs on the one dish currently feeding 4 different rooms. Switching is instant. Using a motor will limit you to only viewing/recording whatever sat it is pointing at. The multiswitch / multi LNB approach gives you simultaneous access to all sats.
    EDIT: I have 9, 13, 19, 28 & terrestrial this way.

    Thanks Guys again.

If I decide to use the quattro LNB plus regular LNB on a single dish (no DISEqC motor or DISEqC switch), should I:

1 have as the prime focus the 19.2e LNB and offset the 28.2e LNB; or

2 have as the prime focus the 28.2e LNB and offset the 19.2e LNB; or

3 both the 19.2e and the 28.2e LNBs offset and equidistant from the prime focus?

And thanks for telling me about the multiswitch with both quad and quattro capabilities. As I have a (quattro) multiswitch already, I think I'll pass on that option at present.

For these 2 satellites it shouldn't really matter which you use for prime focus. My setup is 28/19/13 with dish centered on 19.

    Hi all,

Warming up this old thread, as I think my question is related to the heading.

I want to move my 2 dishes and plan to install a 9/4 multiswitch, to reduce the wiring work. From reading through the Satellite section of Boards my understanding is, that a DiSEqC enabled receiver is sending the signal for choosing satellite A or B to the Multiswitch.

Am I correct in saying this?

Correct. When you set up the tuners in the sat box for DISEQC you tell it which sat is on port A or port B etc.

Assuming you have 2 sat tuners:- If this is tuner A you make the other tuner "equal to tuner A" in 'Configuration mode'
