Just throwing this out here. Many times I've wanted to measure items or get a general idea of how long a certain measurement is. Of all the features that can come with watches has anyone heard of one with that capability?

Agreed, it would be a great feature to have. A surveyor recently mapped out my apartment using a Bosch laser measure, and I thought how useful they are; compared to the old way of tape measuring. I suppose the size of the electronics needed could be a problem in a watch case. The other problem would be the size of the battery cells needed. I could see a laser pointer being fitted OK, but not with the measuring capability.

There's loads of apps for your phone that do it

I second this. I know it's not answering your question but the apps are pretty good. I imagine am there must be some kind of range finder watch for golf or shooting

Or you could buy a cheap nato strap of your own and mark it. Mark it on the inside and no one would see it.
