Be very interesting to see how this compares to the new Rift S.

I'm looking for an healthy resolution upgrade on my rift whenever I upgrade but not for mad money. Only use it for sim racing. The more headsets the better, might keep prices down.

That would be awesome, I'd say we could be waiting a while though!

It wouldn't surprise me if they have some sort of remaster of HL1 / HL2 in VR.

What do people reckon the price will be?

Maybe €299 since they don't believe in going to 3 or beyond?

There's an interesting theory on Reddit, suggesting an explanation for the name (Index), logo (below), and one of the associated patents.

You dont need basestations 2.0 if you already have existing basestations, so that will drop the prices down a tad. Still very expensive.

Literally more than double the price of the new Oculus Rift S.

If I read it correctly, you can buy just the headset and re-use the Vive base stations and controllers.
However, the wireless adapter is not compatible, and I don't see my boy returning to a tether cable.

Sold out in 30 minutes :O

Not a big fan of VR but all hardware must have a killer app.

At the moment the Killer VR app is Elite Dangerous, Valve must have something and something FPS like. Those controllers look made for an FPS.

How much of a graphics upgrade is this over the current vive? We taking 8bit > 64bit?
Still thinking of moving to the S just to break free of the base stations.

I found this video which nicely details what's better
