Senior Contract Big 4

    Hi

I am due to qualify at the end of this month once my 3.5 years experience is finished.

I have just been offered a Senior Contract with no salary change despite it changing to a Senior contract.

Can anyone advise as to realistic salary expectations for a first contract out of a training contract in the Big 4 and any other advice in relation to contract negotiation.

    Thank You

    Barry

Would say it depends on your firm. Some have gone to a system where qualified and exam-qualified seniors are on the same salary as each other all the way through their 4th year. Others are still working off people getting a lower salary in their 4th year if they're not ACA yet (i.e. 3.5 year contract), whereas anyone who had a 3 year contract and stays on for a 4th year (fully qualified from the start of the year) is on more.

If you've been on the same salary (excl. Performance increments) as those who started with you on 3 year contracts, then no, I wouldn't expect a raise. If you're on less, I'd expect to be brought up to what they're on. All that being contingent on satisfactory performance rating etc.
