I found a seven foot drum 700 euro, or should I buy a 8ft disk €6500. It's fierce money for maybe 20 acres a year. I let the contractor cut the main silage. What have you done ?

For the sake of 20 acres I'd get the 7ft drum mower, maybe spend 12000 on it to give a refurb of the main trouble points to give some sort of assurance of reliability. Would be a much better buy. You'll never see the 8k back on the new mower.

The disc can be used for topping too, unless you have a good topper already?
If the drum mower looks to be in reasonable condition, €700 isn't a massive outlay. Surely worth a risk...
