MHRV alone sufficient to handle heat distribution ?

Motivated in part by cost and in part by simplicity I'm wondering if people have encountered houses where heat distribution was by the MHRV system alone ( i.e. no UFH and no rads ) and the heat source was air - air heatpump.

If so, was it satisfactory ?

air has poor heat capacity, when compared to water, so building levels need to be at passive, or very close, for this to be successful.

How big is the house, how many linear m of ducts how many grills etc

Would only consider it it in a passive certified house where design was through phpp software

    My question is totally general.

Can quite see that some serious modelling would be essential. Given that there is a heat source i'm not clear that passive certified house standard would be necessary.

Are you aware of any houses in Ireland doing heating in this way ?

Did you read the link I gave above?

Yes, one or two have used this system. Did you read the link?

    To address your statement above,

In order to ensure this heat delivery method would work, you’d need a compact house, short duct runs, the lowest heat loss possible.

I don’t know off any other house design software bare maybe IES that could tell us this.

The passive standard and its software would ensure the system could be sized and by getting house certified you could be sure the house would preform as modeled.

Maybe read a bit about the passive house standard.

A friend of mine built a house with ICF a few years ago and it's close to passive standard. His only heat source is a stove and HRV. The HRV is a Nilan that can provide heating as well using an element. He says if he was doing it again he'd have gone with UFH as well.
