Electric Fence - Crossing a gap

Bit of a problem here. I want to cross a gap with the mains elctric fence butI can't dig it. The ground has big rocks and large roots of a tree. I have a gate at the gap already.
I can just run the fence with a handle across the gap but every so often I leave the gap open when I want to let cattle tru the two fields or when I want to move cattle etc. I have to cut off the fence then in the 2nd field. Can't go oevrhead with branches etc.
Looking for a handy way of doing it, I suppose.

Can you bring the power around the field.

Some times for a quick fix I put underground cable through a bit of 1/2inch pipe and staple it up both stakes and may be a large stone at the foot to Keep in place sprinkle a bit of clay over it to take the sting out of driving on it.

Of course you can go overhead, just use insulated cable.

https://www.glanbiaconnect.com/shop/product/Gallagher-Underground-Cable-100m-X-2-5mm/9003499 works the same over head as it does underground.

A few runs of consaw with a diamond blade should do the job.

Is the gap piped ??
We run the fence under the gap through the pipes and it works a treat.

Have done overhead too just not as tidy.

Run your insulated cable through an old hollow bar.
Like a bar from a an old broken gate.
Or what about a bit of heavy gauge hyrodare

Or just cross it a bit back from the gap where you can bury it. You'll just have a bit of a stump of a fence into a field. You can use temporary posts for that bit if you want.

Thanks to all. I know I can go overhead with insulated but it won't be as tidy. I might have to just get busy with a pick axe and bury it in a heavy duty hydrodare. Just looking for the easy option.

Overhead will work of course. Only problem would be someone catching it with a loader or a trailer loaded with bales later on in the year.

If ye’ve a cordless grinder, ya could get one of those masonry discs and cut a trench for some pipe. Be all kinds of hardship but atleast it’d be done.

Maybe I am missing something but how about a spring/ring gate with plastic handle?

Put cable in duct. Put duct at ground level (or as deep as practical). Surround duct with concrete. Raise ground level with soil.

Sometimes, I want to let the cattle tru the 2 fields so a spring gate wouldn't work in this case.

You don't necessarily need to cross at the gate, just go out to where the ground is softer and use a longer run of cable.
