Hi All as the title suggests, my trusty diesel has seen better days and im looking at a considerable repair bill and am at that point where i think i need to call it a day with it.
I had hoped that it would get me to early next year when the newer batch of electrics would be available and hopefully push prices down and provide better mileage. It looks like my hand has now been forced and i need to look at what is available now and i think due to the speed in which i will need a car it will have to be second hand.
I know this is another what should i buy thread but really what should i buy ! i need to try get as good bang for buck as possible and ideally something still under manufacture warranty, willing to travel to NI / UK if necessary but some guidance and suggestions from the pro's on here would be much appreciated..

    Budget, driving style, mileage etc....
Can you put in a charge point as in have a driveway.
You need to give much more information.

Mad_lad would recommend a i3 Rex and many others are behind the ioniq.

These seem to be the top 2 go for cars at the moment.

Yeah main info needed is your regular driving distances and whether you can install a charger at your home or not.

    Thanks Punisher,
Sorry this just hit me today so hadn't really thought budget or looked in to financing so relatively open.

I'm edging towards ionic but dont want to spend 30K or so on one with the new face lift and potentially new battery just around the corner.
Want full EV, can install charge point. Will drive to get best mileage seems like a fun game ! (can charge at work too)

I would imaging second hand is the best way to go and then look at trading up in a year or 2 all suggestions really appreciated

Ioniq are got for around€25-€26k with scrappage.

I believe there are still a hand full of dealers offering this.

You need to contact all the Hyundai garages including country wide and play them off each other for best deal.

Look up the ioniq thread where others have availed of this.

Yeah unfortunately I am unsure if I could get the car to be drive-able to get it to a garage to avail of the trade in which seems to to pretty hard to come by these days if still available, which then pushes it back to the 30K region

Some have been known to be LAX on whether you owned for certain time or not just once it's registered as yours.

Get the likes of cartow.ie to lift the car and drop it off.

Once it has NCT it's acceptable of course once you find a dealer offering the scrappage.

If you have the budget and it's got enough for your driving needs it would be a great buy.
