Remove Old Paint from UPVC Window Frame

    Hi all,

I've seen this been asked before but can't find recent threads. I bought a new build house last year. The problem is that the painters I brought in, although good everywhere else - were quite sloppy around the windows and as such there's a lot of paint on the woodgrain uPVC frames.

In addition there's also a lot of 'wiped' areas that weren't cleaned properly by the painters and as such leave a patchy residue on parts of the upvc.

After copious amounts of elbow grease with a scourer/hot soapy water I'm having more luck stripping the paint from the plaster surrounding the windows as opposed to the frames themselves.

There has to be a better way. Is there any chemical option available that can help? And if so where could I get it?

    Thank you in advance.

The paint in question is Dulux Easycare Diamond Matt.

Tricky job, is any of it waterbased? Otherwise small bit of turpintine on a rag I suppose.

Would that not be water based paint..and with a bit of hot water.. easy to wipe off pvc?
Apologies, I have no other suggestions.

Hi lalababa. I though it wouldn't be so difficult - but I've tried hot soapy water with a scourer and plastic scraper and I seem to be getting nowhere fast.

I'm having a little luck with the individual dots of paint but it's that line of paint at the bottom of the window as well as the patches of 'washed' paint by the painters last year that aren't budging at all.

A hard steel paint scraper ( brand new edge) pulled at about 10-15* off perpendicular. Then there’s a sika cleaner which is pretty good but be careful with the chemicals ass some will fade and discolor those golden oak frames. Your best bet is call back the painters.
