Hello clued up DIY people!just looking for some advice please. I live on the top floor of a three level apartment block. I am finally getting rid of my horrible carpets that I have had for fifteen years😱and putting down Columbia 8 mm laminate flooring. A guy friend of mine who has laid flooring before is doing the job for me. I am very concerned about noise insulation.i am getting the flooring from Des Kelly as they had the best prices and unfortunately cost is an issue😔but I do want to make sure the job is done right. I get on well with my downstairs Neighbour and the last thing I want to do is fall out over noise.Although being honest, it is mainly converse trainers these days that I am walking around in, rarely high heels! My friends says because the floors in the apartment are concrete, the 3mm whisper silver is adequate for the job. Des Kelly also stocks Acoustica Gold underlay which is obviously a lot more expensive, also 3 mm but apparently very good noise reduction. My question is which underlay would you go for? I know my friend is trying to save me money but I have to keep in mind that I am the one living here who will have to deal with my Neighbour and the management company if there are problems with noise. I suffer with anxiety so I possibly am blowing this all out of proportion and maybe he is right and the 3mm underlay is perfectly adequate, or else, bite the bullet and go for the more expensive Acoustica underlay. This flooring has to last a long time so I do want to get it right! Thanks in advance for any advice.
