Everyone has different body type, strengths and weaknesses. I personally feel that when I am racing or training for say 5k, 5mile, 10k etc that my biggest weakness is my cardio and ability to breath. My leg strength and ability to run fast is much stronger. So for me, in the 5k I need to build my cardio strength if I want to improve.
Just wondering who here is similar? Is there anyone who feels that it’s muscular or leg strength that holds them back from running faster 5ks, 10ks etc

Other than sprinters, running is an endurance activity that is largely improved through cardio activities. The best training for running is... running. Mostly slowly and occasionally faster. Once you're well trained as a runner, improving leg strength can matter a little bit, especially for shorter distances.
