There are lots of people who won't get out of bed for a steady full-time job paying €35k per year because they're making almost as much from the dole and a part-time job.

In fairness it was the only option i had.

I got pregnant at 20. I claimed i was a single mother as it was the only road i could see as an option. I did have another child a couple of years later which meant i needed a property asap. My partner lived with me off the books while working full time which helped with the bills.

The council allowed me take a mortgage out on it for a 70% discount of the market price which was sweet.

Now im a property owner in Dublin with a mortgage of €160 a week.

There we go, the weekly Dole Bashing thread.

    All we're missing now is
    - Traveler Bashing
    - Dublin Bashing
    - Ireland Bashing
    - Bashing yourself off
    - Man-hating thoughts of some feminist noone's ever heard of

    and we're set

It's increasing this week or next I think. The handful of genuine dole scroungers is a drop in the ocean in fairness.

I have been wondering - what is the salary equivalent on the dole?
Is it possible to work it out? There's lots of variables but there must be a figure out there.
